O-WAN LEADERS MUST UNITE

It is with a great enthusiasm if you could kindly allow me a space to publish my opinion regarding the last week Friday news on Post Courier page 21 heading stated “Menyamya road link to boost agriculture” in the remoteness of Eastern Highlands and Morobe Province.  On behalf of Marawaka people I would like to appreciate Hon. Peter Numu Eastern Highlands governor for drive through Menyamya -Marawaka road to announce the allocation of K500 000 as an upfront funding to begin work on the road.
O-WAN MP with the 3 LLG presidents, councillors including senior bureaucrats at the district administration level must commit themselves to work together as O-Wan team with provincial administration to declaring the prosperity of our electorate. They must put aside their political differences and start work together as one team or One Word for the better change of our marginalised people. We keep saying that our people have been denied access to essential services such as agriculture, health, education, transportation, communication, law and order and improve infrastructures because some of us have spent time living with people, seeing it and have felt it.
It seems to be Eastern Highlands governor taking O-Wan MP roles. Leaders cannot continually ignore the pleas of people for services and development. Elected leaders a mandated by their people and are responsible and accountable to their people for services delivery and developmental changes.  Similarly, public servants are employed by the government to serve the people at the District, Provincial and National levels. O-Wan district is out of eight districts in Eastern Highlands having seen least of developmental changes since Papua New Guinea gain its independence. It is unfortunate that many label O-Wan has one of the dormant and cripple district in the country. Everything rises and falls with leadership.

The 21st century community skills to strategies

Learning about and analysing the changes around us helps us to cope with the changes in our own lives. This is important because you, the youth of today are the future workers and decision makers. You will be the people in charge and influences the changes occurring in our community, electorate or district.Your hands and minds will be shaping and controlling our community or district towards achieving the 2050 vision of the government. Change need not occur only by chance. It can be planned and happen by choice. People responsein both positive and negative ways.Changes produces both benefits and problems. Gemel Wox Wasi
