Marawaka in dire need of baisic services

The people of remote Marawaka sub-district in Eastern Highlands have continuously missed out of basic government services for indefinite period since 1975. It is a very large landmass with 34 ward council area, the approximate population living in the area is 20 000 plus which covers part of Gulf, Morobe and Eastern Highlands province. The community only access basic goods and services through by plane and few to Menyamya road- Morobe Province.  Marawaka since the establishment of government station have largely neglected and demolished by their very own leaders due to silly excuses of many hard terrain mountains in the area. The district administrative leaders, political leaders and public servants were not working with like minded or hand in hand which as results of miss management in the office. And also Obura Wonenara district office is currently operating around the streets of Kainantu and Goroka where it shouldn't be, Marawaka do have district office where the local MP should...

OBURA WONENARA MISSED OUT DUE TO POOR COOPERATION OF LOCAL MP WITH HIS DDA OFFICIALS

OBURA WONENARA MISSED OUT DUE TO POOR COOPERATION OF LOCAL MP WITH HIS DDA OFFICIALS. It is on a contrary of K59 million released on 11th February by PM James Marape to people of EHP on various projects to be roll out soon. Insurely, totally upset and disgrace for the people of Obura Wonenara district to misunderstand the above million kina secure to other district excluding OWAN, the failures is not us people but its the wrong with our concern authorities. Our part as been already done which during election. And the big part that need to be accomplished is with the mandated person which absolutely degrades the developmental integrity at poorest level which not aligned to other district in the country. Certainly, to be a leader must have the skill of strong courages, activeness, creative and innovative with in your role. Should not flea from people voices and rumours about their critics. These are usual challenges that every weak & voiceless leaders went through so as a lea...

Established a procurement audit team in mist of corruption

I advocate that a probity auditor for procurement be established. This can be housed as a new independent office. This function will ensure that disputes are promptly heard but also investigate any allegations of malfeasance or to simply verify costing’s reasonable and robust. I believe that fiscal transparency must be strengthened by publishing key details of major project including estimated rates of return, estimated and final project costs, contractor and its gender impact. We have seen too many reports of excessive legal costs and it is time to ensure that there is legal compliance of the engagement of lawyers for public purposes through a procurement process that results in panel selection of firms and ensures value for money. The publicity of Parliamentarians on signage of public works or assets purchased with public funds and the deception that Parliamentarians alone deliver must stop. It is time for anti-signage provisions in law Parliament, an important arm of government mus...
