Established a procurement audit team in mist of corruption

I advocate that a probity auditor for procurement be established. This can be housed as a new independent office. This function will ensure that disputes are promptly heard but also investigate any allegations of malfeasance or to simply verify costing’s reasonable and robust. I believe that fiscal transparency must be strengthened by publishing key details of major project including estimated rates of return, estimated and final project costs, contractor and its gender impact. We have seen too many reports of excessive legal costs and it is time to ensure that there is legal compliance of the engagement of lawyers for public purposes through a procurement process that results in panel selection of firms and ensures value for money. The publicity of Parliamentarians on signage of public works or assets purchased with public funds and the deception that Parliamentarians alone deliver must stop. It is time for anti-signage provisions in law Parliament, an important arm of government must be strengthened to provide oversight of executive government. Gemel Wox Wasi

The people of remote Marawaka sub-district in Eastern Highlands have continuously missed out of basic government services for indefinite period since 1975. There have been increasing concerns over a number of years about the difficulties faced by Papua New Guineans living in rural and remote areas of PNG in accessing services that most urban dwellers take for granted. A parallel concern has been extent to which the education of people living in these areas is poorer than that of those living in areas with greater accessibility to education, welfare and other services. Coffee farmers in remote Marawaka are struggling

Coffee is one of the commodity that contribute towards the economy of the country. It is a financial strength that boast some remote areas in terms of financial burdens like school fees and so on.  Marawaka in Eastern Highland is very remote that heavily depends on coffee to pay for goods and services. However last year till this year,I as a local student observed lacking of school fee assistance towards the students. As all student from the area came nothing in the beginning of the year to pay for school fees at various institutions, only bus fares. As of 2018 to this date coffee farmers are still searching for help or buyers to sell their coffee parchments. The local Mp through DDA must intervene and make budget plan to subsidize more on airfares in the areas of Marawaka because the only way to get store goods, school materials and health supplies there is by plane and few by Menyamya road to reach destination and vice versa.  This means if the airfare is K350,...
