Marawaka in dire need of baisic services

The people of remote Marawaka sub-district in Eastern Highlands have continuously missed out of basic government services for indefinite period since 1975. It is a very large landmass with 34 ward council area, the approximate population living in the area is 20 000 plus which covers part of Gulf, Morobe and Eastern Highlands province. The community only access basic goods and services through by plane and few to Menyamya road- Morobe Province.
Marawaka since the establishment of government station have largely neglected and demolished by their very own leaders due to silly excuses of many hard terrain mountains in the area. The district administrative leaders, political leaders and public servants were not working with like minded or hand in hand which as results of miss management in the office. And also Obura Wonenara district office is currently operating around the streets of Kainantu and Goroka where it shouldn't be, Marawaka do have district office where the local MP should renovate it and place the head quarter of Obura Wonenara however due to geographical criticism and political differences, the local mp continuously ignorant and exhausted for delivering the government services.

The health centres and aid posts operating with out medicine, mother's face difficulties during child birth, schools purchasing not enough materials because all monies usually drained by air freight charges. We made it through our own effort with out local MP support to sustain our community in terms school fees for tertiary students, tribal fights, natural disasters causing innocent dead and other damages on humanity.

Marawaka sub- district is a last of all the district in the country that accessing poor government services. Marawaka-Menyamya road is only one highway that all the entire people of Marawaka access through Lae city so the local MP should sign agreement with Menyamya MP to reconstruct the road to link Marawaka government station but still continue to forget it as usual.

The heart believe of Marawaka people are the separation of district which something can enable them to defeat the challenges that facing them continuously so the destination in 2030 to Make PNG The Richest Black Christian Nation can be materialised align to the Marapes government vision.

  1. Marawaka needs Improvement

This is the call to elite leaders of Marawaka including local bureaucrats in both private and public sector in the country to come down to your knees to work together with the community and look for possibilities to rehabilitate the struggle society. For more than 40 years nothing tangible has happened to change in terms of better road accessibility, proper law and order implementation, better health and education improvement, maintenance of intrusive cultures that are dying out. None of leaders who tend to have climb high pedestrial, have high qualifications not even one single time all year round come down and staying with the struggle people discussing possibilities to serve. We expect those citizens who are really capable of spending time with community seeking opinion of people to set strategies to improve Marawaka has turn blind eyes. Many of our highly qualified public servants tends to have pride and boast for the position they held and speaks words without action having to says that its remote to attend to the cries of our people. I want to assure that you are not a true leader and you are not even capable of achieving the government vision in your working fields and blabby to others about your unintentional ideas. It is sad to see such educational elite tends to be educational hypocrite proving nothing to the society. Think out of the box and start bring ford engrave grievances to see governmental service improvement in the district. We really cried for leaders to come and look out for our struggling situations and hardships faces every year around.

MY QUEST FOR EDUCATION WAS VERY CHALLENGING FOR THIS AGING GENERATION. I was born in the middle of 1990’s and raised up in 2000’s and today I am 24, from Marawaka sub-district village Kwakusilo. My education career began at the age of 8 when started elementary prep in 2003 at Marawaka elementary with basic skills of numeracy, words pronunciation and basic readings for three years.  In the year 2011, I was selected to Ivingoi high school in Okapa district to continue my lower secondary education grade 9 and 10. At the time I was fortunate to continue my education with the introducing of first free education policy starting from elementary up to secondary under O’Neill Dion’s government. Excitingly high school day was very interesting moment in next level of education with many challenges and difficulties in terms of financial support to pay stationaries, food and other essential needs. However, I was not given up to leave without all these to do my studies.  Many times I ...
